We’ve received a few questions from people outside of the US mentioning the high postage rages of sending international mail to the US and asking how they can help. Some people have asked for an email address to send digital submissions to. Unfortunately, the only email address we have been able to find is a generic fox one (askfox@fox.com), and when we sent an email to them we received a response that there is no email address for glee specifically. So while it’s possible to send email to the generic fox address, it’s likely to be treated as spam and not given much attention or sent to the right people.
But! All hope is not lost! We have a couple of alternative ideas.
First, you can tweet to the writers. While not ideal, you can always upload pictures of your digital artwork and send them a link. Plus, it’d be a good idea to mention the “rainbow squad” for the bonus possibility of getting it to be a trending topic. Obviously, this option is not limited to international people only, which means we can all band together for this.
In that vein, we’ve decided to try and organize a couple of twitter campaigns for special anniversary’s in Brittana and Klaine’s history. For Klaine, that means 3/15 as the anniversary of the original airing of “Original Song.” For Brittana, that means 3/8, as the original airing of “Sexy.” We realize that Brittana’s anniversary is very soon (as in tomorrow!), but as it doesn’t take much pre-planning to write a tweet, we really think this is doable. And hopefully we can get a twitter trend going! More detailed info about the twitter campaigns will be posted later today.
Secondly—and this is where it gets really exciting—is we can use this as an opportunity to connect and collaborate with our tumblr homies! Are you in Singapore, but have a tumblr bestie in South Dakota, or Turkey with a friend in Tennessee? Well, we can use that to our advantage! If your state-side friend is willing to cover the cost of printing and postage (32 cents for a postcard), then you can upload your digital artwork and have your friend print off and send the actual, physical postcard. Or better yet, maybe you can collaborate with one another to make something together! One of the great things about tumblr is that it helps facilitate conversations between people might normally never get the opportunity to interact with each other or even have conversations that might never occur in one’s day-to-day life. We have a tremendous opportunity to turn social networking into real world activism, so why not take advantage of it?
