feminist killjoy reporting for duty

it’s nice to see that when ryan scolded fandom and told us to expect dynamic love interests for santana, that what he really meant is that he has already started the sidelining and de-gayification of santana and her love interests.

not only is this love interest completely offscreen, but we have to rely on context clues to divine that the love interest is a lady at all! after all, why would they even show—or even explicitly tell!— a lesbian going on a date with a woman? that’s just too gay.

Literally the thing I’m looking forward to most on Glee is whether Ryan will get fired.

it is not shameful to work in a bar (sexy or not), whether you’re 18 or 48. not everyone needs an upwardly mobile “career” in order to be happy in life. your job doesn’t have to define you! but if you are actually happy in your job, then that is rare and not something to throw away lightly because your friends don’t see it as “successful.”

and it’s especially dumb for your friends to shame you when they don’t have any better jobs themselves! how dare santana try to make a living and have fun while doing it.

And no, seriously “Glee will end with lots of surprises and cliffhangers” So what do you bet we won’t hear Kurt’s response, so I can just picture how fun  this summer will be…

the s4 finale will end with kurt’s shocked face at being proposed to by someone he’s not even dating and the first scene of s5 premiere will start with finchel making out and then we’ll two group noob numbers and idk a sue storyline. then halfway through the ep, klaine will be together at a coffee shop and there will be a throwaway line about how it was to soon for marriage, but they reevaluated and got back together and boom, there’s klaine together again, once again with none of the build-up. they’ll fade into the background as the first half of s5 is noob city part deux, and when fans complain, ryan will be all, “what do you want me to do?? i gave you a proposal!! it’s not like i can show them having kinky bondage sex in the lima bean! fans are so dumb and oblivious.”

:|||||||||| fuck glee and its misogyny and all its “funny sex jokes because stupid girls!! lol sluts!!!!!!! lol rape is really funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” just shut up writers and learn to be better writers and better human beings.

i have never been invested in a show with such consistently poor and derivative storytelling. they’re even derivative of themselves for no reason whatsoever except they’re lazy storytellers and have no clue what actually made a storyline impactful the first time around. sorry, but just because people were invested the first time when burt was sick doesn’t mean they’ll be equally invested every time glee pulls another variation on a tired, old theme. the boy who called wolf? more like the show that cried burt.

nobody likes a character or storyline in stasis, and by constantly throwing unhappy twists at kurt, or making burt have new and different illnesses, or having kurt and burt reenact the same scenes over and over again, the net result is stasis. sure, they’re churning out new dialogue and slightly different situations for their characters, but all it ends up being is a constant loop of kurt hummel: shitshow life. repeat ad nauseum until noone cares about your show anymore.

I just heard about the Bram meta spoilers. Glee is the worst thing on the freaking planet.

Why do you dislike Finchel?

ugh why don’t i dislike finchel

sorry

it’s just like an entire romance about this fabulous driven uncompromising woman who is slowly and systematically humiliated and humbled before a totally mediocre entitled asshole, who learns to doubt herself and put her dreams second because this beige dickbag tells her to do so

and i mean this lady this excellent unstoppable powerhouse of a lady who works harder and dreams fiercer than anyone else has to learn about leadership and goodness and her true worth from this colossal gaping asshole— a useless selfish presumptuous turdface who belittles her and objectifies her and mocks her and canonically finds it boring and torturous to listen to her speak

you know, it is a fairytale about humbling too-great too-proud women

about reinforcing the kind of straight white male privilege that lets you hate and shame and control and abuse literally anyone (gay latina women, gay white men, all straight women everywhere) either because you know best or because you’re just a boy and you’re still learning but this is your rightful place and they should learn theirs

Glee is all about straight white men controlling how others express themselves. A musical theater show that is supposed to be about finding your voice has THIS as its running theme. Super brilliant satire, am I right?

god, finn is such a douchebag. rachel didn’t want to talk about it, she wasn’t making a big deal of anything, and she wasn’t the one contacting him or playing games with him, but then HE gets petulant when she happens to have feelings independent of him????? FUCK HIM.

glee is about the misery of the human race and the awful things people will do to each other because of their misery. that is literally what happens every episode.

shaolina replied to your post : i might have to start unfollowing some people…

I feel you. I unfollowed about 100 people just because they were Glee only blogs. I keep a couple, but it’s because it’s peeps I like who have a very snarky reaction to the show, so it balances it out.

yeah, i unfollowed a bunch of peeps right before s4 started, but even though i’ve been consciously trying to follow people who share my other interests to balance out all the glee, it’s only marginally helping. at this point 98% of the glee blogs i still follow belong to people i respect and/or are people i consider to be fandom friends. but tbu just shoved a bunch of better boyfriend olympics discussion into meta posts, and then all the spoilers i see are dumb, and it’s a detriment to my general mood to keep constantly thinking about all the stupid. it’s not satisfying to think about spoiler spec, because no matter how low one’s expectations are, the show is worse, and stanning characters isn’t worth it because the writers don’t care, and it’s not like anyone gets any satisfying screentime or storylines anyway.

i might still watch (mayyyyybe, idk), but i think divorcing myself from greater fandom involvement (i.e. beyond watching and the occasional synopsis) is what’s best for me. that said, i do feel bad unfollowing friends, but even blacklisting a half dozen glee related words hasn’t alleviated my dash barely at all. :/
